If we are a victim of our conditioning from the moment of birth (and perhaps in the womb (and also beyond)) what chance does that give the Soul to break free of such chains?

We must never forget that the seed (image of God) resides within us, and when ready it will awaken and begin the process of spiritual development. Conditioning affects the awakening soul (hence the spiritual teachings of the ages) but does not rule it.
